Ocean Earth Travels
Capoeng

Capoeng

If you’re looking for a simple, laid-back boat to explore the underwater world of Komodo, Capoeng Liveaboard might be just what you need. Designed with divers in mind, Capoeng is all about comfort and functionality without losing its charm. The boat features two shared bunk-bed cabins, one twin cabin, and a cozy dorm-style room, perfect for solo travelers or small groups. Each bed has its own night light and charging point, and the shared bathroom comes with a western toilet and a wet-room style shower.

Life on board is social. Between dives there are beanbags on the open deck and a shaded top deck above. Meals are cooked on board and served family-style at a shared table.

Cabins

Capoeng has four cabins. The Manta Cabin is fan-cooled and sits on the top deck, for two guests, with ocean views and sea breeze rather than air conditioning. On the main deck, the Black Tip and White Tip Cabins are air-conditioned with 2-share bunk beds, which suits friends or solo travellers pairing up. The Octopus Cabin on the lower deck takes 2 to 3 guests and has AC, with more floor space.

Itinerary: 3 Days / 2 Nights Komodo Highlights

Day 1, Northern Wonders

We’ll meet at the dive shop at 08:30 AM before boarding the boat and heading north into Komodo National Park.

Today’s dives include Castle Rock and Crystal Rock, two of the best-known sites in the park. Expect fast currents, schooling fish, giant trevally and reef sharks. When it is calm, the coral-covered walls are worth the dive on their own.

We anchor near Pulau Bugis for the night, a quiet beach you can walk along.

Day 2, From Adrenaline to Aquarium

The day starts with a drift dive at Shotgun, where strong currents create a thrilling underwater ride. This site often attracts eagle rays, reef sharks, and occasionally mantas.

Next, we head to Batu Bolong, one of Komodo’s most colorful and fish-packed reefs, often compared to an underwater aquarium.

The final dive of the day is at Tatawa Besar, an easy drift over soft corals, sponges and reef fish. At sunset, hundreds of bats leave the mangroves.

Day 3, Manta Encounters and Komodo Dragons

We start the day at Manta Point (Makasar Reef), drifting through channels where manta rays often gather at cleaning stations. Other sightings might include parrotfish, eagle rays, and bamboo sharks.

The last dive is at Tatawa Kecil, a small island with dense coral and schooling fusiliers, trevally and snapper.

Before heading back, we’ll stop at Komodo Island for a short trek to see the famous Komodo Dragons in the wild, guided by local rangers.

Day 1

Meet us at the dive shop at 08:30 AM.

Your odyssey begins beneath the waves at Sebayur Kecil, where a tranquil coral garden welcomes you with open arms. In these serene, sun-dappled waters, you'll ease into the dreamlike world of Komodo’s reefs.

From there, surrender to the current at Mawan, where the ocean breathes in slow motion and majestic manta rays glide like shadows across the coral reef.

As daylight softens, step ashore on the enchanting shores of Pink Beach, a delicate ribbon of blush-colored sand, kissed by turquoise waters, the perfect finale to your first day in paradise.

Day 2

Awaken to a world alive with color at Colleen’s Corner, where clouds of anthias dance in a kaleidoscope of movement, and reef sharks or eagle rays might drift through like passing spirits.

Then, venture south to the fabled Manta Alley, a pulse-quickening dive site where mantas soar through the sea in elegant formation, as if choreographed by the currents themselves.

Later, float through the quiet wonder of Secret Garden, a gentle reef blooming with soft corals and tiny marvels tucked into every crevice.

As golden hour arrives, ascend the rugged trail of Padar Island to witness the sun melt into the horizon, painting the sky in a blaze of unforgettable color.

Day 3

Begin your final day with a step back in time on Komodo Island, where the ancient dragons still roam, powerful, prehistoric, and awe-inspiring.

Then, return to the sea for a dive at Batu Bolong, a towering cathedral of coral that rises from the depths, alive with shimmering trevallies, vibrant reef fish, and every shade of the underwater spectrum.

Finally, let Tatawa Kecil offer you one last embrace, a gentle drift past swaying sea fans, fields of soft coral, and the occasional turtle or barracuda gliding past, as if bidding you farewell from this realm of ocean magic.
